Athens, Georgia — Landmark Properties, the nation’s most active student housing developer, has hired industry veteran JD Goering to lead the company’s property acquisition business.

As the Senior Vice President of Acquisitions at Landmark Properties, Goering will oversee the company’s national acquisition strategy. His responsibilities will include sourcing and evaluating acquisition opportunities, structuring joint ventures and closing on investments.

“Over the past six to 12 months, we’ve become much more active in the acquisitions space,” Landmark Properties President and CEO Wes Rogers said. “As a company, we see tremendous potential and opportunity to continue to grow in that area, and we’re confident given JD’s impressive experience and track record that he can harness existing momentum to lead us in the right direction and spur even greater success.”

Goering has 12 years of experience in the student housing industry. He came to Landmark Properties from Harrison Street Real Estate Capital, where he served as vice president for the transactions group since 2015. Prior to that, Goering served as senior vice president and leader of the student housing acquisition team at Blue Vista Capital Management for seven years.

“Landmark is known as one of the top owners and managers of student housing in the country, and I’m thrilled to help the organization determine the right assets to add to its mix through thoughtful acquisitions,” said Goering. “My goal is simple: to help Landmark build an unmatched portfolio of student housing communities.”

Over the course of his career, Goering, 39, has been involved in the acquisition, disposition and development of more than $3 billion of student housing assets.
